Do you love to travel?

I have been traveling for decades, over the years I have designed my life around my love of travel. Travel isn’t for everyone but I do recommend that everyone travel some in their life. That said I will give you the reasons I travel and why everyone should travel to some degree. I don’t mean just leave the house, I mean a new city or better yet a new country. Learn a new language in the process!

I suppose the first reason I travel is to live. Everyone has gotten too tied up in their lives of working forty plus hours a week. People have come down to work all week, take care of kids and family, shop, and watch television. Honestly, is that anyway to really live? Shouldn’t life be a bit more exciting and adventurous? It is this kind of life is why people end up divorced and unhappy, they forget how to live. They don’t remember what it is like to sit in a coffee shop and just talk with people while you relax. They don’t remember what it is like to explore a new place or try new things. Do you ever relax? Do you know how?

The second reason are the people. Where ever you live there are good and bad people. Some become great friends and some you will never see eye to eye with. One thing I have found about traveling is when you are in a new city, a new country people will often be very helpful. Some do it so they can practice their English. Some do it because they enjoy talking to people from other countries. Some do it because in that country and society being friendly is just part of the way they live. They can be a great help, teach you a lot about the country and tell you the places most tourist never find. I have enjoyed so many times sitting in a local pub just being lead to the hideaway places for food and fun only the locals know about and never tell the tourists.

I think the third reason I travel is that life is short. Life is really short, what you do with yours will depend on a lot of how you were raised but also what you dream of a great life has been over the years. To me, working forty plus hours a week and spending my time off waiting to go back to work isn’t living. I feel like I am just waiting around to die. I don’t live to work, I work to live. Some people think only the rich can work to live. The real truth is everyone can work to live, you just have to decide which is more important, repairing your home and all the material things you buy day after day, week after week, and year after year. All of which are losing value each day, slowly failing apart, and you can’t take with you when you die anyway or experiencing the world and what the world really is like instead of just what you hear on television. Personally, I choose the world and the great things in our history.

Don’t wait around to die anymore, get off your butt and go travel!!!!

Travel is one of life’s pleasures, enjoy it! Do you Travel? What are you missing if you don’t?

The Pure Fun Of A Cruise Ship Vacation

When you think about preparing for your cruise vacation you probably picture packing a swimsuit and sandals. However there are a few things that are often overlooked that can make a huge difference. f your trip takes you outside the country ensure your passport is valid. As soon as you receive your cruise documents make your reservations for on-board amenities and shore excursions. Assess your available credit and make sure you have plenty of cash. These small steps can greatly enhance your cruise vacation enjoyment.

Because of recent changes in the law you should get a passport ASAP-especially if your cruise vacation takes you outside US borders. A valid passport is required to reenter the country from Canada Mexico and the Caribbean. Those who have traveled a lot should make sure that it won’t expire soon and that there are blank pages in it. You don’t want to realize upon reentry that your passport just expired.

For some who don’t yet have a passport it’s worth the money to get it processed quicker so it arrives in time for your trip. It’s a great idea to make a few copies of it before leaving. If your passport is lost or stolen while you are gone these copies will come in handy. Make sure to give copies to your emergency contact in the states and put one in your suitcase.

Your company will send your documents for your cruise vacation a month or so before embarkation. They contain important information about ship activities and amenities as well as shore excursions. Many cruise lines allow you to make reservations online via their websites. While you could wait until you board your cruise ship to make these arrangements you’ll likely find a long line and inconvenient times available. Booking ahead allows you to begin enjoying yourself the minute you step on board knowing that you’ve got it all taken care of.

A cruise vacation is a great way to celebrate a milestone such as a honeymoon birthday or anniversary. Check with your cruise line to see what kinds of special packages are available. You should check as soon as possible so that they have plenty of time to make arrangements. Those who wait until they are at sea to request twelve dozen orange roses will likely be disappointed.

A few months before your cruise vacation take a look at your amount of available credit. You’ll want to know as soon as possible if you must open another card pay down your balance or move money around. Upon check in you can expect a hold on your credit card for incidentals during your trip. Liners could set holds ranging $50-200 per day on your card.

It is a great idea to call ahead and find out your cruise line’s policy. This is especially important if you plan to stay in a hotel or rent a car since there will be multiple holds on your credit card. Even though your charges are adjusted to reflect the money you actually spent it can take several days for it all to catch up. You don’t want to find out that your card is declined during your trip because of holds.

You’ll want to make sure you bring some cash on your cruise vacation as well. Your credit card will get a good workout but there are times when you’ll need cash. Traveler’s checks are not taken as often as they used to because of the high rate of fraud. Most ships have ATMs but you can count on a high fee and they have been known to run empty. You’ll be very glad you have some hard cash to make purchases from street vendors and smaller merchants on shore. Also cash tips are a great way to recognize all the great service from your cruise ship staff. Packing some cash is an easy way to avoid inconvenience on your dream vacation.

Even a chaotic person can get organized for a cruise vacation. Just a little bit of preparation can ensure that you arrive at your ship prepared to delight in every minute of your cruise vacation. Make sure your passport is current reserve your shore excursions and spa appointments ahead of time and assess your credit and cash needs. These are small steps that will help make sure you are able to relax and truly enjoy your cruise vacation. Make sure you pack your sandals and swimsuit!

Help Is Here…. You Need To Get It Now!

My wife was recently traveling to a meeting while driving on interstate 94. Unbeknown to her as she approached Minneapolis, major construction had begun that morning. As she approached, a construction exit sign ushered all traffic off the highway and dumped them into the city.

Everyone was now being dumped into the city. Being unfamiliar with the city streets, and absolutely no detour signage to rely on, she was in a jam. Her meeting was scheduled at 8:30AM and time was slipping away. Fortunately, we have free concierge service from the travel and vacation booking website. She picked up her phone and called them right away for help.

So… you never heard of this before? Let me help you. The next time you book an airline ticket with this web site, you will receive 30 minutes of free concierge service. You can use it anytime. Ask them anything. This is what they are there for. Try it once, you will love it and be hooked like we are!

Now, returning to the story, she is on the phone talking to the concierge. He is calm, and calming her down too all the while beginning to understand what is at issue. Timing was everything at this point and he knew just what to do.

The concierge is always sitting in front of a computer, and before long had researched the Minnesota highway department’s web site for road closures. Apparently the highway department failed to tell anyone about this closing. Not good! The concierge began to give her step-by-step guidance back to the highway on the other side of the city.

After 30 minutes of maneuvering through the city, the concierge was still on the phone with her. This was above and beyond the call of duty. This was Priceless!

In an event like this, without the concierge service this could have been horrible event for my wife. Fortunately it was not. Our belief in this company is now through the roof. We will always book our travel and vacations here. Let’s here it for Rovia! Awesome…
